This workshop offers an opportunity to reengage with the key concepts from Trauma Theory, Attachment Theory, Early Brain development, Polyvagal Theory. It will explore the impacts that present when growing in a family system where there is neglect, abuse, DFV, emotionally absent parent or similar; the impacts on a child/young person’s development and subsequent patterns of behaviour.
‘A workshop for professionals supporting relationship repair between the Parent Child/Adolescent Dyad’
This workshop offers an opportunity to reengage with your key knowledge of Trauma Theory, Attachment Theory, Early Brain development, Poly Vagal Theory and the impacts that present when growing in a family system where there is neglect, abuse, DFV, emotionally absent parent or similar; the impacts on a child/young person’s development and subsequent patterns of behaviour.
The format of this workshop is practical experiential based training, including opportunities to move and experience the activities, break out discussion groups, brainstorming, PowerPoint presentation, and some fun whilst exploring this weighty topic.
Across the two days the following will be covered:
*Basic overview of parents compromised capacity to parent when *Living with DFV. The impact on relationship with children
*Basic overview on Trauma theory
*Basic overview of Attachment theory
*Basic overview of Brain development in the Early Years and Bruce *Perry’s Neurosequential Model of repair
*Basic overview of Poly Vagal theory
*ACE’s
*Consider how all of the above interact and impact the responses and behaviours of individuals.
*Reinforcing the positive, the strengths and hopes
*Engagement with Mother/carer and child/adolescent where to start how to build trust. Things to consider and be aware of. Techniques and activities for engagement and starting the work
*Repair – Activities to support regulation and connection, the exploration of feelings inside outside and between, activities that require a leader and a turn taker to explore boundaries and rules, activities that involve close contact and repair These activities will be explained, how to, and actioned. A range of worksheets, tools and resources will also be explored and their use and purpose explained.
