An opportunity to engage the volunteer network from across different ESOs, within the COP\'s vast area. Community of Practice creates a defined \'space\' to which enables members to address their shared experiences and collaborate on solutions to practical problems which are encountered in workplace and volunteer environments. They develop a shared repertoire of resources: experiences, stories, tools, ways of addressing recurring problems.
Monthly network meeting for like-minded advocates to discuss wellbeing and compensation cases. It provides an opportunity to network and supports interagency and inter ESO relationships.
Each meeting provides a space for participants to learn and grow from each other. It addresses both Well-being and Compensation issues where advocates can work together to ensure there is a holistic approach and ensures the maximum use of service provision.
Our guest speakers are from the Gambling Impact Society. They will be providing the network with education regarding gambling harm, impact on families and resources to help you assist veterans and their families that may be impacted by gambling.
The Gambling Impact Society (NSW) Inc. is an Australian Charities & Not–for-Profits Commission (ACNC) registered Health Promotion Charity. It was established in 2000 by a group of people who had experienced gambling harms. It continues to be managed by people who have experienced gambling harms and professionals working in the field of problem gambling and social welfare.
The GIS mission is to build the capacity of individuals, families and the community to respond to gambling harm as a public health issue. We work to raise community awareness about the multi-layered dimensions of gambling harms, provide education about gambling risks and increase understanding of problem gambling.
CONSUMER VOICES: The effect of gambling harm on individuals and families; Ideas to support those who may be affected; How gambling harms impact communities; Support services in your local area and online.
The afternoon will be for compensation cases for advocates to discuss case law, the latest from the RMA and discuss specific cases anyone is having difficulty with.
